Terms of Service
Last updated: 15 October 2026
These Terms of Service govern your use of Tanyalah Ustaz API. By creating an account or using the API, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. About us
Tanyalah Ustaz API is operated by Hikmah Tech (Business Registration No. 003599417-X), based in Malaysia ("we", "us", "our").
These terms form a binding agreement between you and Hikmah Tech.
2. The service
We provide an API that returns AI-generated answers grounded in an Islamic knowledge base, together with source references. You integrate it into your own product.
We may change, add, or remove features. We may suspend the service for maintenance. Where a change materially reduces what you get, we will give reasonable notice.
3. Your account
You must provide accurate information when you register and keep it up to date. You are responsible for everything done through your account and API keys.
Keep your API keys secret. Do not put them in client-side code, mobile apps, public repositories, or browser requests. If a key is exposed, revoke it immediately and create a new one.
You must be at least 18 years old, or have authority to bind the organisation you represent.
4. Acceptable use
Do not use the service to break any law, to infringe anyone's rights, to upload malicious code, to attempt to access data that is not yours, or to overload or interfere with the service.
Do not submit queries intended to harm, defame, or mislead, and do not reproduce or commercially exploit our knowledge base without permission.
We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms.
5. Nature of the service: guidance, not religious rulings
We are a reference and search platform. We do not issue original fatwas. Content is drawn from recognised Islamic authorities, including State Mufti Departments, with attribution and links to the original source.
Answers are generated by AI from that material. They can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. They are provided for general guidance and reference only.
Answers are not a fatwa, are not legal, financial, or medical advice, and do not replace consultation with a qualified scholar or your local Mufti office. Islamic rulings often depend on facts specific to a person, which the service does not know.
You are responsible for how you present these answers in your product, and you should tell your users that answers are AI-generated and that they should verify critical information with official sources.
6. Credits and payment
The service is prepaid. You top up credit and usage is charged against your balance. Prices are shown in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and are inclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.
Usage is charged based on the underlying AI cost plus our margin, as described in your dashboard. Balance and usage figures in the dashboard are the record we rely on.
Credit does not expire and is not transferable. Refunds of unused credit are handled under our Refund Policy.
We may change our pricing. We will give reasonable notice before a change affects your usage.
7. Availability
We aim to keep the API available but we do not promise uninterrupted service, and we do not offer a service level agreement unless we agree one with you separately in writing.
We may perform maintenance and updates, including suspending the portal. Where practical, we give notice. Current and historical availability is published on our status page.
8. Intellectual property
Fatwas and Islamic rulings belong to their respective issuing authorities. We provide attribution and links to the original sources.
The platform design, code, and proprietary features are owned by Hikmah Tech (003599417-X). Nothing in these terms transfers ownership to you.
You keep all rights to the content you submit, including files you upload to your own knowledge base and the messages your product sends. You grant us a limited licence to process that content only as needed to provide the service to you and to comply with the law. We do not use your content to train models or for any other purpose.
You may use the API responses in your own product as part of your ordinary use of the service.
9. Your data
We handle personal data as described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Depending on your product, you may be a data controller and we a data processor for the end-user data you send us. You are responsible for having a lawful basis to send it.
10. Limitation of liability
We provide information "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for decisions made based on platform content, for third-party content or external links, or for consequences of relying on AI-generated results.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue, or data.
Our total liability arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hikmah Tech, its directors, employees, and partners from claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the platform or your breach of these terms.
12. Third-party services
We rely on third parties, including payment processing (ToyyibPay), cloud hosting, our database provider, AI model providers, and email delivery.
These services have their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content or availability.
13. Ending these terms
You may stop using the service at any time and delete your account from your settings.
We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service. Where practical, we will give notice and a chance to withdraw unused credit.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The 'last updated' date at the top will change. If a change is material we will give reasonable notice, for example by email or a notice in the portal. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
15. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.
Where applicable, disputes may also be resolved through Shariah-compliant arbitration or mediation in accordance with Islamic principles.
